As the most high profile show in London, Burberry had a lot to live up to, and not just in the collection. The brand is dominating technologically and following on from last season's live streaming success, yesterday saw them score another high-tech victory as they took fashion week to social networking. Each look was tweeted before it was sent down the runway, causing somewhat of a twitter hysteria. Not only that, but the full collection was available to order straight after the show - talk about instant fashion.
Bailey himself described the collection as "Joyous, upbeat" and "nostalgic"; fitting for show that resembled an ode to handicrafts with techniques of crochet, beading, braiding and printing all being employed. For a spring collection however, it wasn't so summery. The focus was on outerwear, redefined, with parkas, trenches and macs in compelling patterns and textures being the predominant focus. Ironic perhaps, but most practical for an unpredictable English summer. My personal favourites were the leather platform sandals (a versatile classic) and the African inspired prints seen on the skirts and jackets.
What were your favourite pieces?
