"Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time."
Recently in English Literature we have been studying 'A Handful of Dust' by Evelyn Waugh, a novel that depicts lives in the frivolous era of the thirties. When read aloud by my slightly manic teacher, it is hard not to be amused by language ridiculing the futile nature of their society. What I love about his quotes is that he addresses such flippant issues in a serious manner. Below are a few of my favourite quotes from his texts:
"Punctuality is the virtue of the bored."
"Manners are especially the need of the plain. The pretty can get away with anything."
"The truth is that Oxford is simply a very beautiful city in which it is convenient to segregate a certain number of the young of the nation while they are growing up."
A blog should convey our lives; what we feel, where we gain inspiration from and what it is we desire to share with the world. I hope to instil a positive outlook on life with posts on fashion, quotes, fun and laughter.
