Preppy Look One: Studying in Check

When the temperatures drop, leaves begin to fall and the morning air feels crisp and chilly, you know that Autumn has arrived. For many of us, this changing of season comes with the beginning of a new school year and the inevitable wardrobe dilemma of what to wear following months living in floaty fabrics with minimal attention paid. Whilst I am not returning to academic studies myself this year, over the last two years at college I always turned to the 'preppy' look whenever I was lacking in outfit inspiration, notably the blazer and dress combo similar to above.

This week my posts shall all be inspired by 'back to school' fashion. For the first of these, I have decided to wear one of my fail safe outfits - a checked dress and blazer. Whenever I have one of those days when no outfit seems to fit or look right, I always turn to a simple dress like this as they are comfy and require minimal effort. Pairing it with a blazer sharpens the look and gives the impression that serious consideration was paid when in reality the outfit was quite literally thrown together.
