Scrapbook: Incredible India

I began my travels in March when I arrived in Goa, west India.  Over the next few months I travelled through cities and villages via trains, buses, boats and planes, along with a 3 week detour to Nepal.

This is a collection of some of my favourite photos from the trip.

- Goa , a beach paradise -

Sightseeing

- The Taj Mahal - just as magnificent as everyone claims -
- A City of Palaces, Udaipur at Sunrise -
- The Golden Temple, Amritsar -
- Morning washing in the River Ganges, Varanasi -

Culinary Delights

- Juicy Pomegranates -
- An egg roll, a speciality of West Bengal -
- Street food served on a banana leaf -
- Deep frying some sweet treats -

 Transport

- An autorickshaw -
 - Bright yellow taxis in Kolkata -
 - A moped whisks its passengers into Dusk -

  Scenes from the Streets

 - Chickens being cycled across Hyderabad city early in the morning -
 - Second hand book stalls line up along College Road, Kolkata -
 - Fresh food being prepared on the streets -
- The Dhobi Ghats, Mumbai-

If there's a country that sends your senses into a frenzy, it's India. A country that's animated and dynamic, it's India. A country many either love or hate, one where you never know quite what to expect.  Definitely India.  Beginning on the beaches of Goa and ending in the bustling city of Kolkata, I had the most amazing few months. A few of the highlights of my trip included:
  • Celebrating the cricket world cup in Mumbai
  • Seeing the Taj Mahal at sunrise
  • Riding a moped through the surreal landscape of Hampi
  • Taking a cooking class in Udaipur
  • Eating concoctions I had never thought of (a curried boiled egg being one of them)
  • Hiking in the Himalayas

India sounds like a truely fascinating destination, one I hope to get to at some point.
3 months is a good length of time, you must have soaked up a lot of the local culture & atmosphere in that time!
Your photos are absolutely stunning by the way xox
