Kimono in Black and White

Outfit: Kimono- Vintage; Dress - H&M; Bag - Topshop; Shoes - Primark

As mentioned in my previous posts (here and here), I love anything with an oriental flavour.  Fabrics, prints and cuts can all embody the culture in a distinct way.  I love the simplicity of the colours and floral pattern on this kimono shaped blouse, it's become a go to piece to throw on over the most basic of outfits.

Peterpan Collar in Tartan

Outfit: Dress - Urban Outfitters; Tights, Hairband, Shoes - Primark
Photos of my sister

Everytime I go shopping at the moment I seem to find myself surrounded by pieces featuring the peterpan collar.  I'm a great fan of them, (see one of my previous outfits), it's a simple detail that implies innocence and youth.  This dress of my sister's is the ideal choice to throw on when you wake up late and need to be out the door within 10 minutes.  Pieces like that will never fail to be of use.

Simple Peach

Outfit: Shorts and Jacket - Zara; T-shirt - Primark; Clutch - Vintage; Shoes - New Look

It's been incredibly gloomy over this past weekend - grey skies, heavy clouds, just generally quite dull and dismal.  On days like this, putting on a peach pair of shorts, and adding a few colourful pops  of lipstick, earrings and nails can make everything seem a little brighter.

Feeling Florals and a Maxi

Outfit: Dress - asos.com; Top - Topshop; Bag - Miss Selfridge; Sunglasses - Vintage; Bracelet - Primark

Don´t you love it when a root through your wardrobe unearths a great garment that you haven´t worn in years?  For me, that piece is this floral, bat-winged jersey top.  Barely taken out of my drawers in two years, I rediscovered its charm and adaptability and so far have worn it on my summer holidays, out in the evenings and layered with this basic maxi dress. For England´s current state of muggy weather, this lightly layered outfit was ideal.

How About Rouge?

Outfit: Trousers and Jacket - Vintage; Headscarf - H&M; Shoe Boots - Market; Belts - Primark

This red jacket is something that I (once again) borrowed from my Mum's wardrobe. She tends to wear it for 'best'. Its shape and fabric are so beautiful and I love what can only be described as a 'pouffe' which appears when a skinny belt is tied at the waist. I've realised over the past few months how much I'm going to miss both my Mum's and sister's wardrobes when I go off to university. These days, I think more of the clothes I wear come from theirs and not my own closet.

Another Large and Chunky Knit

Outfit: Chunky Knit Cardigan - Urban Outfitters; Belt and Headband - Primark; Boots - Vintage Hobbs; Skinny Jeans - New Look

With the sky as grey as ever, the cold and damp nipping at every part of me, I think I'm beginning to retreat into a rut of knits, jeans and extremely comfy boots. This particular knit is bigger than my usual however I think I've slung it on every day over the past week - it's the perfect thing to throw on after a day at work. Sometimes there's nothing better than warmth and comfort. I'm hoping some sun is going to arrive soon...

Got Some Mustard On Your Skirt

Outfit: Skirt - asos.com; Coat - M&S; T-Shirt, Socks, Tights, Headscarf - H&M; Belt - Vintage; Brogues - Clarks

Modelled by my sister

Mustard yellow clothing is definitely a favourable way to brighten up a dark and dreary January day. My sister received this piece for Christmas and due to its versatility it's been worn many times since. The skater shape of the skirt is what I love most about it, simply because wearing things that swish and swirl as you walk never fails to make me smile!

Have a fantastic weekend

When it's Grey Outside

Outfit: Trousers, Headscarf and Bracelets - H&;, Shirt and Bag- Vintage; Shoes - Office

Over the past weekend, I don't think I've seen the sun once. All this dark and dingy weather is beginning to be reflected in my wardrobe, one example being this entirely grey/white/black combination. When harem pants first came on the scene I have to admit that I was rather reluctant to give them a try - I just didn't understand how something with a baggy crotch and tight ankles could possibly be flattering. I have, however been converted. Whilst these grey ones aren't entirely 'harem' pants, they're definitely a step in the right direction and a nod towards the 'luxe sportswear' trend that Alexander Wang constantly favours.

Layers of Camel

Outfit: Coat - Vintage; Bowler Hat, Jeans - Primark; Shoes - Market; Scarf - Gap, Cardigan - Zara; Grey T-Shirt - H&M

Time for the beige coloured coat to come out again. In temperatures like the current ones we are experiencing layering is the key to keeping warm; here a t-shirt, woolly cardigan and coat ensured I didn't catch a chill. Of course the balance of baggy and tight had to be met, hence the skinny jeans.

Enjoy your weekend

Blanketed in Tartan

Outfit: Dress - asos.com; Tights, Bowler Hat, Bangles - Primark; Shoes - Market; Tartan Scarf, Belt - Vintage

Whenever I see tartan, whether it be on a scarf, a tin or a dress, it always brings to mind the Scottish Highlands - I think it's those 'Visit Scotland' adverts on the television. That or far too many years of visits containing ceilidhs (traditional Scottish dances) and tartan covered shortbread tins. When my sister produced this scarf from her latest vintage venture I wanted a location as similar to the Highlands as possible, unfortunately a lack of mountains meant the local river bed would have to do.
