Star Style: Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan

Since starring in 'Pride and Prejudice' way back in 2005 these two girls have been making great waves in the film industry with Knightley starring in virtually every period drama made and Mulligan on this month's cover of US Vogue. Once again they have combined their talents in new film 'Never Let Me Go' and this week whilst busy promoting it, they have also been sporting some rather fabulous outfit choices...

Round One: British Film Festival

First off, I adore these outfits. Knightley's flirty blue skirt has come straight from Rodarte's S/S '10 catwalk (jealous, much?) and been teamed with this beautiful nude lace blouse making for the ideal outfit for such an occasion. The brown Louboutins pull the look together and only heighten her elegant stature. The Proenza Schouler number Mulligan is working suggests a hint of Grecian goddess - must be something to do with the pleats and colour - yet she looks utterly stylish and glam. Personally I think the duo have marked out the perfect way to carry off a 'ladylike' ensemble.

Round Two: World Premier of 'Never Let Me Go'

Round two was a tad disappointing, if predictable. Whilst Knightley looks stunning, I can't help but think we've seen this all before -the beige Chanel dress, the black, satin heels and the demure pout. However, at least the plainer outfit choice enables her newly bobbed hairdo to stand out and no one can deny that she looks the epitome of 'elegant chic'. Mulligan, on the other hand seems to be dressed for dinner on her summer holidays. The draping, lack of shape and pattern on this Vionnet dress paired with those woven sandals scream beach holiday rather than red carpet premiere. Her only saving grace - those rich rouge lips are divine.

So what do you think readers, do you love or hate the looks and who do you think deserves the fashion crown?

New York FROW - September 2010

So far this season's New York fashion week hasn't failed to impress. Besides the incredible shows from the likes of Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler and Alexander Wang, those fashionistas sat in the front row have also dreamed up numerous outfits for us mere mortals to drool over. Whilst these compilations haven't been quite so overt and eccentric as the usual, for me this enhances their appeal as they are something we can all at least attempt to achieve.

Below are a few of my favourite FROW outfits of the week so far:

Alexa Chung

This tiger certainly hasn't changed her stripes. Doing what she does best; preppy chic with a hint of adrogyny, Alexa has gone from show to show mixing classic Chanel bags with cutesy dresses by Philip Lim. My only quarm - the second dress screams 1940's matron at me.

The Rock Chics - Leighton Meester and Rachel Bilson

With leather predicted to be a huge trend for A/W 2010, it is no wonder these girls are jumping early on the bandwagon. Personally I love how Rachel has interpreted this grunge/biker look, the floaty fabric of her blouse juxtaposes perfectly against the durable texture of the shorts and shoes making for the ideal simplistic outfit.

The Glossy Girls - Olivia Palermo, Whitney Port and Diane Kruger

When Olivia Palermo, Whitney Port and Diane Kruger stepped out in New York, they turned up the style stakes a notch and brought with them a dose of much needed glamour. For Olivia, this was no doubt the perfect moment to premier her new haircut, yes my dears she has taken to the chop, you like or not? Me, I love it.

Out of the 3, Whitney is definitely the winner for me - those romantic ruffles, nude dress and perfectly coordinating shoes and lipstick all scream perfection.

Who are your favourites?

Jessica Biel - A member of the A -Team

- The monochrome Vionnet number, paired with Sergio Rossi 'Lola' pumps -

- Giambattista Valli gown -

Now for common folk like you and I, it isn't often (if ever) that we have the chance to don a dreamy gown with a pair of exquisite heels and traipse off to a movie premiere for all the world to criticise or acclaim our outfit choice. However, for members of the A List, or A Team in Biel's case, this can become a daily occurrence. On the promo tour for her latest film 'The A-Team' she has worn some pretty impressive gowns with designers of Vionnet and Giambattista Valli being two of the names she has chosen.

All Flirty and Skirty

Olivia Palermo is definitely one of my style crushes. Eternally chic, she mixes Topshop buys with high end pieces and is the epitome of 'upper east side' dressing.

This is one of my favourite outfits to date- the flippy, skater style skirt on the dress along with simple ballet pumps and a classic top knot is perfect to keep cool in the hot summer weather. She has even mastered the dilemma of whether a gust of wind will lead to display of sheer embarassment with this underlay of purple- ladylike without a doubt.

The Very Best of Glastonbury '10

- First up for the performers -
A performance would be nothing without the dramatics and Glastonbury certainly delivered in the form of the costumes. Florence Welch wore a Maison Martin Margiela Artisanal leotard, appearing on the stage almost like a ghost. The red hair and strong white colours provide the perfect contrast for a breathtaking performance. My personal favourite costume was Paloma Faith's, which on first glance I thought was a bunny outfit. The glittering diamonds and what appears to be a knight's helmet made for a completely bizarre ensemble- but if you can't take fashion risks on stage, when can you?
Shakira

- Next up for the attendees -
Jamie Winstone, Jameela Jamil, Sienna Miller, Kate Nash

- Emma Watson, the new festival darling? -
A close runner up in the crowning of 'Festival Queen', Emma's Louis Vuitton bustier with Hudson shorts make for a quirky alternative in festival gear. Plus a pair of ripped denim shorts with a floaty blouse tucked in is always a festival staple outfit.

- Once again, Chung triumphed for me in the festival fashion stakes -
Alexa's quirky mix of tomboy cool, several preppy items and a living life to the full attitude has certainly defined her for me as the 'Festival Queen'. Oooh and don't you just adore the Prairie style shirt under the dungaree dress?
