Elegance Simplified

Outfit: Trench Coat- Zara (seen here and here); Jeans and Blouse- Primark; Sunglasses - Market in Paris; Sandals - Topshop

A lesson I really ought to learn from my sister - how to look elegant in such a simple outfit. For one of our walks along the beach she chose to wear her trench tied tightly at the middle as the feature of the outfit, along with these rolled up skinnies and a lightly detailed blouse. Perfect for an afternoon stroll.

Top Trench Moment

I'm sure that many of you have a 'Top Trench Moment', whether it be in a magazine or film. For me, this moment is in 'Breakfast at Tiffany's'. When Hepburn chooses to wear a trench to dash out in the rain, it not only makes us long for her elegance when all sodden and wet, but displays the longevity of the piece. Even today, the style and outfits in this film are revered and continually re-created, displaying maybe one of the only truths in fashion - classics never date.
What's your 'Top Trench Moment'?

Trench Take One: Preppy

Outfit: Trench Coat - Zara; Floral Dress and Shoes - Topshop; Bag - Vintage

Following on from my last post - trench inspiration, I have decided to post a few different outfits focusing on the trench coat to display just how versatile this item is for your wardrobe. For look number one, I have chosen to go for the 'preppy' look, pairing it with a simple floral summer dress, matching shoes and a ribbon in my hair. The ultimate accessory for this look - an old vintage bicycle (with basket) to cycle around town in of course!

Trench Inspiration

- Burberry perfume 2006 ad campaign -

My infatuation with the trench coat began way back in 2006 after I caught a glimpse of this Burberry campaign featuring Rachel Weisz. Focusing the story on an idealistic London love affair, it appeared the brand was attempting to once again reclaim the item as an ultimate British original. In the years since, Christopher Bailey has been continuing to reinvent it, the two previous collections for Spring/Summer focusing on the item as a chief element of every woman's wardrobe. Although, perhaps these images are now out of date, I feel they are just as inspiring as they were then and encourage me to continue my search for the perfect trench coat, a key staple in every wardrobe.
