Ironic, I know, that my last post focused on the art of dressing in all manner of vibrant colours yet I have decided to focus only on the monochrome palette for this outfit post. Whilst I am continuing to try and venture out of my comfort zone by wearing more bright colours, sometimes you just can't resist going back to black and white.

'Brighton Rock' editorial - Vogue UK November 2010

As stated on the cover of British Vogue this month, Lara Stone is 'the girl who seduced the world'. Since the reinvention of her modelling career, she has gone from strength to strength, recently being signed as the face of Calvin Klein - putting her in the league of supermodels such as Kate Moss and Brooke Shields. This editorial celebrates her whimsical, almost child like charm in white, celestial clothing and the backdrop being Brighton Pier - the ultimate child's playground.

All things white and gold

Outfit: Dress - French Connection; Bangles - Primark; Earrings - River Island

My friend and I hosted a joint 18th in a bar/club at the weekend and the dilemma of what to wear came up. Thankfully another friend lent me this beautiful, white silk dress. Oriental dressing has always inspired me, the kimono shape of this dress hints towards a possible Malaysian vibe with the gold beading around the waist adding a luxurious twist. I finished off the look with plenty of golden jewellery and an attempt at 'beach' hair (difficult to pull off in a city in the North of England where the temperature rarely reaches above 25C!)

I must admit, I have a tendancy to purchase anything that is white and made of lace. I think it's the concept that in one item of clothing you can feel sophisticated, refined and almost superior to your former self. As I tried to justify the purchase of this dress, I convinced myself that it has multiple possibilities as it can be worn as both a dress and a top; both of which I have fulfilled.
