Inspiration: The White Lace Dress

The white lace dress is one of those pieces that every girl seems to own a variation of, whether long, short, casual or formal, it is such a versatile item.  I love the way you can dress it down with a cargo jacket (like the girls on the top right), or up with a pair of interesting heels, delicate makeup and luxurious hair.  Last week my sister had her school's founders' day and wore her own white lace dress paired with a black velvet belt, it looked stunning.

A Black Lace Mini

Outfit: Lace Dress- Topshop; Underdress- H&M; Heels - Office; Bracelet and Earrings - Primark

After gathering together so many inspirational images for my last post, I decided that it was time I attempted to recreate some of the lace elegance for myself. Saturday night proved the perfect opportunity - an evening out with friends called for a dressy outfit that was still comfortable enough to dance in. I took this black lace mini (borrowed from my sister's wardrobe) and paired it with blood red lips and nails, keeping the accessories to the minium to ensure that the lace remained the full focus.

Also many thanks to bruna of urban queen.org for featuring me in her latest post, she has a great blog, check it out here.

Inspiration: Lace

Quite simply, I love lace. For me, the fabric holds connotations of romance and religious ceremonies (its original purpose was to be worn by the clergy in the Catholic Church). Whether in black or white, the whimsical fabric is so feminine, enduring and demure. Over the last few seasons, it has become more and more popular with dresses and blouses becoming staples in mine and my friends' wardrobes.

I leave you with some inspiration from those girls who really know how to work it...

Got That Weekend Feeling

Outfit: Corset Top- H&M; Heels and Trousers- Primark; Earrings- Topshop

After being inspired by one of cupcakesandcashmere's latest posts to bring out my high waisted tapered trousers, I had little idea of what to pair them with. I received this corset top for Christmas a few years ago, yet I have worn it very few times as I always feel far too overexposed in it. With these trousers, however it felt a little more relaxed and the ideal ensemble to wear out for a few drinks at the weekend.

Peachy Pastels

Outfit: Blouse and Hat- M&S; Lace shorts - H&M; Bag - Vintage; Bracelet - Claire's; Heels - Primark

Over the last few seasons, various shades of nude have been featured as a major fashion trend in virtually every glossy fashion magazine. As a hint towards romance and innocence they create an almost whimsical ideal of the summer months. When I spotted these nude shorts in H&M a while ago, I instantly fell for them due to their shade, lace detailing and large bow. Since purchasing them, I have worn them on several occassions with a simple vest top, however when I discovered this cream blouse at the back of my mum's wardrobe I thought the floaty fit and cream hue wouuld make it the perfect thing to pair it with.

Lace is great

- Lips are painted on with liner covered in Razzle Dazzle; a treasure found lurking amongst our childhood make-up boxes. -

I must admit, I have a tendancy to purchase anything that is white and made of lace. I think it's the concept that in one item of clothing you can feel sophisticated, refined and almost superior to your former self. As I tried to justify the purchase of this dress, I convinced myself that it has multiple possibilities as it can be worn as both a dress and a top; both of which I have fulfilled.
