Orange Skirt Take Two

Outfit: Skirt - Zara, Jumper - H&M, Shoes - New Look, Sunglasses - Vintage, Headscarf - India

A more casual and relaxed outfit. I've worn several variations of this, finding that pairing a more formal piece (the skirt) with minimal basics such as baggy jumpers and stripy t-shirts makes for a dressed down approach, something that I wear far more regularly.

Orange Skirt Take One

Outfit: Skirt - Zara; Blouse - Vintage; Clutch - Vintage; Sunglasses - H&M; Shoes - Primark

I picked up this skirt in the Zara sales after being inspired to wear more vibrant colours on my recent trip to India.  The combination of a tailored cut, vibrant colour and relaxed side pockets make it an effortless piece to wear.  Paired with a vintage sheer blouse - I fell for the cut out cameo on the rear - and large bug sunglasses it feels quite formal.  My next post will feature this skirt in a more casual compilation.

Inspiration: Orange

There's something about the colour orange that makes it pretty intimidating to wear. It's brash, bold and at times far too in your face. However, when it's done well (like the outfits I've selected above) it's a dazzling colour for a hot summer, reflecting everything that is so appealing about the season - the warmth, relaxation and a more 'happy go lucky' approach to life.

If the prospect of wearing it still seems daunting (as it does for me) start with one piece, incorporate it into your wardrobe and begin building outfits around it. As you become more confident wearing it, I have a feeling that you will begin to love it.

One Shirt, Two Ways: Part Two

Outfit: Shirt - Junk Vintage; Cardigan - H&M, Brogues - Primark (seen here, here and here); Belt - COW vintage (seen here and here); Leggings - TK Maxx

Following on from my last post, I decided to wear this shirt in a more relaxed fashion. As the colour of it is so Autumnal, I chose to go for the the whole brown and orange combination, receiving rather a lot of stick for looking like an old Brownie (perhaps a tad too much brown!) Despite the connotations I found this look so comfortable and warm I practically lived in it all weekend. In fact I have barely taken this huge, chunky knit off since I bought it last week - it's the perfect jumper to throw on under the current weather conditions. As for making a fashion disaster, personally I believe that if you never make mistakes, you never learn how to do it right!
