Preppy Look Four: Layers of Grey Bunched in at the Waist

Outfit: Cardigan and Shirt -
Mother's vintage; Leggings- M&S; Boots - Hobbs; Belt - Primark; Bag - Vintage

Another 'preppy' outfit consisting of layers of shirts and cardis, all in various shades of grey. For me this would be the ultimate outfit for Autumnal study in order to stay both comfortable and cosy. The belt nipped in at the waist ensures there isn't a complete lack of shape.

Also, many thanks to look 10 for doing a feature on my blog, check it out at look10.blogspot.com

Preppy Look Three: Sun Streaming through the Tartan

Outfit: Skirt and Blouse
- Primark; Scarf - Cow Vintage; Brogues - Clark's

Modelled by my sister

As one of the derivative 'preppy' patterns, an element of tartan is sure to feature in every studiously styled wardrobe. Being a great lover of this classic look, I own many tartan garments, this skirt (previously featured here) and scarf being two of them. Whilst mixing the two patterns may be considered excessive, personally I reckon that you can never wear too much tartan. When paired with this ruffled blouse and a pair of brogues, this would be the kind of thing I would love to wear to a university function.

Preppy Look Two: Vintage Scarf

Outfit: Skirt - H &M; Shirt and Scarf - Vintage; Shoes - Topshop

Last week, I visited Oxford University for an open day. I spent it marvelling at the ancient architecture, incredible colleges and quaint town. The studious feel of the place made it the ideal location for a 'preppy' outfit, this time being a vintage scarf, baggy shirt and navy skirt.

Preppy Look One: Studying in Check

Outfit: Dress - Uniqlo; Blazer - Primark; Shoes and Tights -Topshop; Bag - Vintage; Necklace - Urban Outfitters

When the temperatures drop, leaves begin to fall and the morning air feels crisp and chilly, you know that Autumn has arrived. For many of us, this changing of season comes with the beginning of a new school year and the inevitable wardrobe dilemma of what to wear following months living in floaty fabrics with minimal attention paid. Whilst I am not returning to academic studies myself this year, over the last two years at college I always turned to the 'preppy' look whenever I was lacking in outfit inspiration, notably the blazer and dress combo similar to above.

This week my posts shall all be inspired by 'back to school' fashion. For the first of these, I have decided to wear one of my fail safe outfits - a checked dress and blazer. Whenever I have one of those days when no outfit seems to fit or look right, I always turn to a simple dress like this as they are comfy and require minimal effort. Pairing it with a blazer sharpens the look and gives the impression that serious consideration was paid when in reality the outfit was quite literally thrown together.

What are your favourite outfits to wear to school / college?
